Crimes of the Future Successfully Wraps Production

 

 

David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future wrapped its six weeks production on September 10th, 2021. Crimes of the Future is an original screenplay by Cronenberg and first conceived in the early 1990s. This is the iconic director’s first film to shoot in Greece. Cronenberg chose Athens as the ideal location for his visionary movie of the future. The film’s look was completed alongside key collaborators, including the legendary production designer Carol Spier and the acclaimed director of photography, Douglas Koch.

Over an eight-week preparation period, filming locations were all secured in and around the City of Athens – with numerous well-known streets and some of the city’s most historic buildings hosting Cronenberg’s unique visual world.

Viggo Mortensen, Lea Seydoux, Kristen Stewart, Scott Speedman, Welket Bengue, and Lihi Kornowski star in this film alongside many notable Greek actors, including George Karamihos, George Pirpasopoulos, Michalis Valasoglou, Tassos Karachalios, Jason Biter, and Efi Kantza. More than 250 Greek technicians worked on the production, representing over 95% of the crew.

Crimes of the Future is a co-production between Robert Lantos’s Seredipity Films from Canada and Panos Papahadzis’s Argonauts Productions from Greece. This is the second collaboration between Lantos and Papahadzis, after their first film, Fugitive Pieces. Argonauts Productions handled production services for the film.
