The “Summer with Carmen” wins the Authorwave post-production award at Agora Works in Progress of TIFF63

The “Summer with Carmen”, directed by Zaharias Mavroeidis and produced by Ioanna Bolomyti, received the Authorwave grand prize in the category Agora Works in Progress.

Synopsis

25-year-old Nikitas – former actor, now a film director aspiring to become Greece’s Xavier Dolan – is urgently seeking an idea to pitch to a French producer he met in a film festival. While having a day-long swim with his best friend Demos they review the events of a recent summer as possible script material.

That summer, Demos broke up with Panos, later his vacations with Nikitas were cancelled due to a health emergency of Demos’ father, this led Demos to get back in contact with Panos who in the meanwhile had gotten a dog – Carmen. By the end of summer Panos had a new boyfriend and Demos had Carmen. Meanwhile, Nikitas and Demos tried to collaborate on another script that led to a dead-end.

In order for the summer with Carmen to become Nikitas’ feature debut, the two friends will have to deal with the pending conflicts in their common narrative arc.
