The period drama series is based on Mary Kontzoglou’s duology “From Sun to Sun”, which includes the two parts “Aposperitis” and “Anesperos.”

The story is adapted for television by Maria Georgiadou, with direction by Vasilis Tselemengos and Christos Anagnostopoulos.

The series portrays real historical events, focusing on the 1916 miners’ strike in Serifos—a landmark moment in the history of the labor movement. Combining historical research with fictionalized storytelling, it brings to life an era of struggle, conflict, and deeply personal stories.

Perseas is the son of a miner killed in the mines of Serifos, and of Katerineta, a strong, uncompromising, yet sensitive woman who defied all societal “rules” and taught her son to hold his head high, just as she did. As a young man, Perseas is forced to follow his father’s path in the mines, working “from sun to sun,” from dawn until dusk, to survive on the harsh, barren island. Yet the grueling labor and constant danger cannot prevent the love that blossoms between him and Andromeda, the daughter of his family’s enemy, nor can they suppress their dreams of a better future, with humane working conditions for all.
